Sophie Louise
Clubb
Sophie is an interdisciplinary artist focusing primarily on the female experience. Originally from Blandford Forum, she is currently based in Liverpool after finishing her Fine Art degree and subsequent MA in Exhibition Studies.
Using a range of artistic techniques, Sophie explores the pressures of girlhood and womanhood, ideas of perfection and women's perceived role within society. Her works have spread across both the physical and virtual space, using the virtual space to bring attention to women artists who have been historically excluded from male dominated spaces.
Sophie’s artistic and curatorial practices are informed by Curatorial Activism developed by Maura Reilly, which uses exhibitions to offset racial and gender disparities in the art world, as well as feminist organizations such as Cyberfeminism, that uses the internet as a tool for the exploration of gender and technology. Although Sophie uses a plethora of materials, the female experience remains a core subject matter.
