Female Perspectives in Virtual Reality
Female Perspectives in Virtual Reality explores the ways that technology can allow for exhibitions to take place outside of institutions. In creating an alternate space to display works that represent the female experience I hope to bring attention to these perspectives which are usually omitted from traditional institutional narratives. Using technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality as a tool to display the works of underrepresented artists as well as to reach audiences who may not attend traditional exhibitions.
This research highlights the ways in which technologies can be used to engage wider audiences such as those who may felt excluded from traditional white cube spaces. Artists and there artworks represent and create culture, whether that be political commentary or a visualisation of their own lived experience. Each artist not matter their gender should be provided equal opportunity to display their own interpretation of the world. Audiences of this work also should also be provide an equal opportunity to these spaces, and should not be worried about a lack of understanding or knowledge.
